I am gearing up now for the fall/holiday season round of shows that I have been accepted to and the first one I will be at is the Etsy Made in Canada – Ottawa show. This show is the first of its kind in that Etsy is partnering with show organizers all around Canada and on September 27th, 2014, various cities throughout the country will each have a one day show in their respective city with their Etsy store owners all under one roof! We are lucky enough to have one being held right here in Ottawa and I was one of the Canadian Etsy store owners chosen to represent my home town of Ottawa. It is a fantastic and innovative way to celebrate and support the amazing artistic and creative talent Canada has to offer and to showcase the individuality of each city’s artists and craftspeople.
For those of you who have heard of Etsy, or not, and are wondering just what it is, here is a description that I think best sums it up:
“Etsy is a global marketplace where shoppers can browse more than 20 million creative items, ranging from art to furniture to vintage fashion, and everything in between. Whether searching for a specific item or browsing top trends, there’s something for everyone. Etsy is the leading online destination for artists and curators to sell their handmade and vintage products, and for buyers to purchase that one of a kind item. More than just a website, Etsy empowers people to do what they love – it’s a vibrant marketplace where new and seasoned creative businesses can grow.”
Another exciting aspect of this particular show is that vendors/artists are being given an opportunity and incentive to step up their game where their booth/display is concerned. The organizers of the show will be taking a look throughout the day’s event and voting for best display. The winner will win back the cost of their booth! My display is a never ending work in progress and I have made some changes, yet again, to improve things as well as, hopefully, give me a leg up in the competition.

Wish me a great show and hope to see you there on the 27th!
