There has been a recent change of plans regarding Bombshell Revival’s participation in Art in Fashion 613 this year. I will now not be showing a collection in the fashion show. Now, this originally could be taken as a bad turn of events but, this change has resulted in a positive outcome in certain ways.
I will not be showing a collection at AIF613 this time around because our fashion show coordinator has had to cancel her involvement this year due to prior commitments and scheduling. This was a serious blow to my partner, Rene and I’s team as this particular person brought experience, knowledge, professionalism and a true passion for fashion, art and event planning to the table. Her role in AIF613 last year allowed me the freedom to also participate as a designer and not have to concern myself with the running of the fashion show on the evening of the event. It was decided that I would focus my energy as one of the organizers and creative director of AIF613 rather than also creating and showing a collection. I did not feel I would be able to handle wearing so many hats and that something was bound to suffer or fall through the cracks if I spread myself too thin. Also, if I am honest with myself and Rene, my main role is supposed to be as one of the main organizers and creators of AIF613 and not as a designer. This event was created to showcase local art, fashion, artists and fashion designers, not Bombshell Revival Designs. When I created this concept and event with Rene, it was not intended to be a platform for me and my work and it has taken this change of plans to bring me back down to earth and realize what my actual role in AIF613 should be.
Again, there was some disappointment in not being able to participate in the fashion show as a designer and I knew that this would probably also disappoint some of my “fans” but, there turned out to be a bright side to this development. Rather than doing a mini three look collection and two outfits for our evening’s entertainment duo, TU, I can now concentrate on creating just the outfits for TU. I will have even more time and focus to make something even more spectacular for them to wear and perform in that evening. So, Bombshell Revival will still be showing new looks at AIF613 this year, just on a less grand scale and in a more personal way. I also actually feel a great weight lifted off my shoulders and a renewed confidence in my ability to give 100% to AIF613, Rene, our guests and the artists and designers who help make AIF613 a success.
I guess it’s true what they say – things happen for a reason!
