Can’t you just see a southern belle lounging on the porch, fan in one hand, mint julep in the other while wearing this dress?
This upcycled beauty was created by combining a lace top and floral print georgette skirt with an asymmetrical hemline. The lace top had some holes and tears in it that were repaired by the placement of vintage doilies and other lace trims. The elastic waist and top yoke of the skirt were removed and the skirt was then blended with the top to create a dress from the two pieces. Leftover pieces of the skirt were used to fashion new fluttery cap sleeves for the dress and remnants of polka dot chiffon were formed into bows for further texture and pattern.
Mother of pearls buttons, pearls and Swarovski crystals further accent and embellish the romantic and feminine design of this dress.
It is so satisfying and inspiring to take two tired garments and give them a second chance to make someone feel beautiful and special!
