Bombshell Revival Designs is making its debut at the Ottawa Wedding Show next month!
Over the past few months, I have been designing and bringing to life a selection of upcycled wedding and special occasion dresses to present to individuals with a different esthetic and personal style than the usual bride or client. The bride I design for is looking for something memorable, unique, one of a kind and that will make a statement on her individuality and perhaps even, rebellious spirit. The traditional white satin or taffeta mermaid, fit and flair or ball gown with the jeweled belt is not for her. She wants to express herself and stay true to herself on her wedding day. My bridal client is also someone who is interested in eco-friendly dress choices. I take existing discarded dresses, skirts, corsets and other garments and re-vamp them into one of a kind pieces of wearable art. I am saving otherwise discarded clothing from potentially ending up in the land fill and giving them a second chance as a beautiful and new keepsake. Some of my creations can indeed be termed as “bridal” but, many others can be worn again to other future events and functions as they do not read as “bridal” once out of the context of being worn as a wedding dress. Again, it is a wise choice for the bride who wants to be different and cares about going beyond only being able to wear an investment such as a wedding dress that one time.
I love creating everyday upcycled clothing for clients but, I have come to realize that my passion and true love is in creating one off, fantasy and once in a lifetime dresses and statement pieces. It is an area where I excel and flourish and where my imagination and heart is untethered. The perfect place every artist loves to dwell.
I am also a designer who believes that any and all women can and deserve to look like a bombshell and feel their absolute best, no matter what their age, size, colour or how or whom they identify as. I welcome clients of all types and it is my pleasure to serve them and build up the spirit and celebrate the personal style of each and every one.
I am excited to reveal my collection and introduce myself to the Ottawa bridal world but, I am also terrified. What if this new path is not actually for me? What is no one likes my dresses? What if my esthetic is just too different and the niche I thought existed in bridal here in Ottawa is not a reality after all? So many fears and wonderings but, in the end, like I have in the past, I needed to go with my excitement and gut, take a deep breath….and jump!
I am proud of each design I have created and can’t wait to see how they are received. Looking forward to seeing and meeting all of the wonderful brides and their friends and family at the show.
