This upcycled design has what I am calling a “steampunk prairie” feel to it.
A large silk geared skull applique trimmed in rust toned crochet lace forms the main focal point on the front of the skirt. Light taupe lace flowers with gears in their centers and a strip of cream hook and eye tape finish the skirt’s front accents. A longer piece of the hook and eye tape and two more lace flowers have been applied to the back of the skirt. The center of one of the flowers has been embellished with another gear and the second one with a skull bead and some metal bars. All of the embellishments in the flower centers have been attached by hand using embroidery floss in a complimentary brown tone. The hook and eye tape, lace flowers and skull appliques were sewn by machine to the skirt.
The skirt itself is constructed from lightweight cotton and is lined. It is a size 10/12 and has a full and swishy silhouette. The skirt also has a side zippered closure.
