Inaugural Art in Fashion 613 A Success!!!

October 31, 2015 By kym Leave a Comment

What an amazing experience and evening!  To all of you who came out to enjoy and support Art in Fashion 613 on October 17th, a huge thank you.  My partner, Rene and I have heard nothing but positive feedback and before the night was even over, were being asked when the next one would be!  For a first time event, we were quite happy with the number of tickets sold, both online and at the door.

The designers and vendors turned out a top notch performance and visual feast for the eyes.  The creativity knew no bounds and Ottawa’s artistic community has proven itself a force to be reckoned with.  A photo of my collection and a few of the vendors have been included with this posting.  I cannot wait to see what level of talent and inspiration next year’s Art in Fashion 613 will reveal!

We had great media coverage prior to the evening as well as the night of – CTV cameras made an appearance!  A short clip was played on the 11:30pm news broadcast that night.  We were also blessed to have John (“Milky”) Mielke from BlastTheRadio.com present for the evening to keep the tunes rocking and provide us with that added bit of energy and ambience to our event.

Alana Hock from Dance with Alana and her lovely ladies of burlesque provided us with some sassy and provocative entertainment at the midway point of the fashion show.  Their addition to the evening’s offerings was very well received and the ladies received much thunderous applause and whistles!

I was happily exhausted at the end of the evening and so proud of my efforts when I saw the photos of my collection a day or so later.  I was also very proud of all of the compliments and astonishment expressed when I revealed to those who asked that, yes, this was my/our first time planning and presenting an event of this kind and calibre.  We came away with many areas not to change in the least and some where we can improve and do things differently next year.

Here is a link to an review posted after the event by Shifter Magazine that can sum up the experience and event as a whole for you…and, hopefully, incite interest to attend next year’s Art in Fashion again or for the first time if you were not able to attend this time around.
