This upcycled wool jacket attracted me with its Marie Antoinette inspired soft blue shade, the quality of its construction, its classic and simple shape and the fact that it was made in Canada did not hurt either. The pearl buttons at the front and on the sleeves were also and elegant touch and meant that they would not have to be changed or improved upon during this jacket’s re-vamping.
As I mentioned, the shade of the wool in this jacket was the perfect jumping off point for another Marie Antoinette inspired piece from Bombshell Revival Designs. The amazing cream and taupe striped hemline was removed from a skirt and added to the hemline of the jacket. Pieces of the skirt were also used at the neckline, shoulders and sleeve ends of the jacket. Various trims in a hue close to that of the jacket added further detail and served to further tie together the colour story chosen for this piece.
I have titled this design “Le Secret” because the Marie Antoinette character appliqued on the back of the jacket seems to be saying “don’t tell” or “keep my secret”. The image has been framed by taupe and teal trim and the image has been embellished with a rhinestone necklace and earrings, small pearls, a cream rosette with a pearl button centre and some rose lace flowers, whose centres are also highlighted with pearls.
A cream rosette and rose pink lace flowers have been used to also carry the floral detailing to the front of the jacket. The center of the cream rosette has a skull center, because it just would not be a Bombshell Revival piece without a skull in there somewhere.
This design actually flowed and came together quite quickly. I am certain this one will be a hit at my fall shows and will provide one lucky lady with an elegant and unexpected piece to team with her work wear or favourite jeans and a boots this fall/winter season.
